The Multicultural Institute offers courses to enable and inspire clergy and laity in cultivating God’s biblical vision to gather people of diverse identities into inclusive communities of faith.

Course I

Expanding Your Boundaries: Learn to Speak Spanish in Five Days

Starts Monday, November 8. An immersion course that will have you speaking Spanish in the very first session and will send you home able to speak, read, and write Spanish. Lilia Ramirez and Gustavo Vasquez

Course II

Crossing Borders: Biblical Guidance for Counting the Risk and Reaping the Rewards

The new frontiers of cross-cultural ministry require specialized skills and abilities. Solid Bible study that hits the ground in your ministry contexts will include sermon preparation, lesson planning, staff development, and leadership. Course III

Jesus’ Follow Me: Practicing the Christian Call to Cultural Proficiency

How does the Church embody Jesus’ invitation to follow him across the boundaries that separate humanity? Learn and practice new skills for crosscultural ministries, dismantling racism, and building the beloved community. DeBorah Gilbert-White, Gun Ho Lee, and Marcia Mount Shoop

Costs for Conference, Housing, and Meals

Course I:

  • Comprehensive Fee —$690 includes lodging from Monday-Thursday nights, 3 meals a day, except Monday (just lunch and dinner) and Friday (just breakfast and lunch), and all conference fees
  • Program & Meals Only —$330, includes same meals as above and all conference fees

Course II & III:

  • Comprehensive Fee —$535, includes lodging from Tuesday-Thursday nights, 3 meals a day, except Tuesday (just includes lunch and dinner) and Friday (just includes breakfast and lunch), and all conference fees
  • Program & Meals Only – $265, includes same meals as above and all conference fees

Add on costs to accommodate different schedules:

  • An added night of lodging is $90
  • Added meal costs are as follows: Breakfast—$7.75, Lunch—$9.00, Dinner—$11.75
